Preparing for winter

Mellors has made an enormous batch of chutney from our green cherry tomatoes (that never ripened) plus plenty of apples & chillies.

Today he set about planting 80 cloves of garlic among the rose beds:

 

 

While Mellors sorted through all the garlic…..

 

 

I made a hedgehog house to keep a frosty hedgehog warm through the winter. Here’s the box with the door cut out of it

And here is it is the garden – against a wall, under a bush, secured down with heavy stones and not facing north.

Hopefully a hedgehog will move in soon and pay his rent by eating some slugs & snails for us.

No frogs in our barrel pond – we will have to wait till spring now!
